Day 2 began with a morning trip to Round Swamp Farm where we picked up fruit, pasta salad, and snacks. Kale hummus was my fave. Sounds healthy right? Well it was, and it was good. The handcrafted, homegrown business has been in the family for over 300 years – nine generations – and each family member has their own expertise whether it be fishing, farming, baking, cooking or preparing daily. You can literally taste the love and passion that goes into their delicacies in each and every bite (wearing Joie and Tkees).
Back to the beach. We picnic’d seaside and walked along the sand admiring the gorgeous homes. This particular beach was pretty desolate at the time so it was a good opportunity to sit back and take it all in. I may have done some serious house hunting in the meantime, my fiance is in for a real surprise…uh oh…
I am so not a pink person, but I ended up falling into this gorgeous Emanuel Ungaro dress for some R&R in the garden before we headed out. It just felt right.
We were honored to be invited to dinner by restaurateur Timothy Gaglio at his Sicilian inspired Osteria Salina in Bridgehampton. Welcomed with cucumbers sauteed with pepper and sea salt (sounds odd but refreshing after a warm day in the sun), we dined on “Timbalo di Melanzane Bianco”(a white eggplant tower layered with fresh tomato and mozzarella), “Busaate with Pistaccio Pesto” (a close runner up to Venice Beach based Superba Snack Bar‘s Smoked Bucatini Carbonara I’ve recently raved about), “Organic Scottish Salmon,” and “Cannoli Siciliani.” The atmosphere and company complemented these delicious dishes bringing Bridgehampton and Italy together in an exceptional experience-big bravo!
