I’m so excited to head to New York tonight! It’s a quick trip so as I pack my carry-on carefully, I have to push myself to be smart about my necessities, because let me tell you, this girl could, and would, pack her whole closet if it weren’t for her hubby (I promise him every time I’ll lug my things around, but we all know he ends up doing the work-ha!). Since we’re doing city over beach this Memorial Day, I’m packing my go-to shorts & tees with one or two pairs of jeans and sweaters (I know I know-you think I’m crazy because it’s hot and humid there but I always get cold at some point). I’ll throw in a dress and as many pairs of versatile heels as I can possibly jam in and thats usually a wrap! Forgive me for my nod to these neutrals, but you’ll be seeing plenty of brights on the book this season. Enjoy!
1. High Waist Bikini (top here; bottoms here): if there’s one thing (well, of many) I’ve learned from my mama it’s never forget a bathing suit. Rain or shine, you never know when the opportunity comes up to catch some rays or jump in the jacuzzi. I always resort to a black bikini – it actually lives in my suitcase.
2. Felicity & Coco Shift Dress: shift dresses are my thing! I love love love love them. Mostly because I can put one on during the day and easily transition into the night with a switch of sneakers to heels. Comfortable, chic, and stress-free!
3. Kate Spade Earrings: a good pop of color can always be found in a stud.
4. Jessica Simpson Pumps: white pumps are a fabulous way to fab up any look. Whether it’s that shift or a graphic tee & distressed skinnies (which I’ll get to later), they’ll polish any basic or bold look off in an instant.
5. Revlon Lipstick: red lips are the best accessory.
6. Blank Distressed Skinnies: an easy staple to pack that adds just the right touch of edge to any simple look. I’ll probably wear this pair with a graphic tee one day and throw on a sweater and those pumps for dinner!
7. Rag & Bone Shorts: light, easy & breezy.
8. Brixton Fedora: the accessory equal to those ripped jeans that will add that little touch.
9. Diane von Furstenberg Sweater: I loveeeee cozy sweaters. Any time of year, any location.
10. Marc by Marc Jacobs Crossbody Bag: you just want a no-fuss bag when you’re struttin’ the streets…and this one’s perfect with a detachable strap.
11. Forever 21 Denim Crop Top: a trendy twist to high waist jeans or this skater skirt on deck…
12. TopShop Skater Skirt: a feminine alternative to the jeans and shorts!
13. Kate Spade Printed Clutch: I like to limit prints in my packing, but a unique clutch like this girl is the perfect petite addition to spice things up.
14. Eight Sixty Fit & Flare Dress: you gotta have that one sexy piece.
15. Joie Leather Jacket: great for layering over any dress, jeans, or shorts!
16. Stuart Weitzman Leopard Sandals: okay, and maybe one more sexy piece. I love these because they’re neutral enough to mix & match with pretty much everything here in my suitcase.
17. Target Graphic Tee: a comfortable and hip necessity.
18. Ray-Ban Sunnies: any sunnies will do, I usually bring a couple styles, a rocker chic pair like these plus classic oversized style frames.
19. H&M Sneakers: cute and casual.
20. Halogen Flats: ditto, with some sass.
