Fun fact: mauve was my favorite color for a split second in college-I actually painted the ceiling of my room the shade for a semester or two! It’s not that I don’t love the spring hue anymore, it’s just hard to find, and can be even harder to wear. It’s one of those in between colors that can freshen your look up, or wash you out so I’m always careful with how I style it. The last time I wore mauve was in a TopShop sweater dress form here, so this round I spiced it up a notch in a Rachel Pally crop top edition and balanced it out with clean white Alice + Olivia trousers for a sophisticated look (side note: crop tops are another thing I’m careful with-they must not show too much skin and always have to be evened out with a conservative or covered bottom). I added a black J. Crew Blazer for a touch of classic contrast and finished the look off with a basic headband (Target!) and a fun Clare V. leopard clutch for a pop (sold out but similar version here)! I love mixing prints with pastels, it pushes their limits and gives their soft vibe that touch of edge I often need to feel like myself. Not that I’m rough around the edges or anything ;)
