I was excited to put my pics up from our trip to Australia, but to tell you the truth, the second I uploaded all of my photos, I hit writers block. I really cannot find the words to describe the amazing adventure I had with my husband and his dad, who I’m so thankful shared with us the land down under where he grew up. I met so many relatives I didn’t know existed and it’s such a cool and surreal feeling to know now that I have such dear family on the other side of the world that I can literally call my own. We adventured to Melbourne, Adelaide and finally, Sydney where met up with Hunter’s mom for the finale, and although these pics don’t justify the meaning of the trip they’ll always remind me of an incredible week I’ll never forget.
The second we landed, we didn’t waste time. We rented a car and hit the ground running.
Bells Beach with the boys-a famous surf break.
And yep, they served avocado and toast at the first restaurant we stopped at!
Great straight off the plane snack.
It’s Autumn in Oz, so the streets were beautiful in Melbourne!
We stopped for, you guessed it, Iced Coffee. They don’t mess around! Their
Iced Coffee is literally an Iced Coffee, topped with Ice Cream :)
A nice little pick me up before we headed to dinner at Hunter’s Uncle’s House.
We hit up the “Footy” with the cousins! Such a fun experience (I actually went to two games while I was there)!
We made it to Adelaide where Hunter’s grandma and family lives on the water. So relaxing.
Oh yeah, I had this random urge to go blonde(er) before I left! When on vacay right?
What are we thinking? Should I dye it back?
Prettiest time of day.
I’ve always liked sweet potatoes, but I have a new appreciation (especially if they’re reallllly good). We had them with almost every meal towards the beginning of our trip and I’m not mad about it.
Loved lunching at the Victory Hotel-aside from spectacular seafood, it had gorgeous views and a cool wine cellar!
We tried to hit the beach in the early evening each night to unwind from our busy days. Our time to regroup before the next event…family dinner!
I loved looking at the sky each night, thinking my own parents and family were at home on the other side of the world, looking at the same sky as me.
Lunch at Star of Greece was such a treat! The restaurant had amazing views, and their Greek food was insane! I took a break from fish for a meal, and their falafel did not disappoint.
Oh, and it was chilly often (or at least, I was chilly often, haha!). Totally see where and why UGGS were created now-I picked these guys up and voila! I was walking on a dream.
One of my favorite times-wine tasting in Adelaide. Everyone was so friendly at the wineries and driving through the countryside and vineyards alone had this tranquil, peaceful feeling to it.
Ok, I lied. This was my favorite time! These kangaroos were so sweet, and I couldn’t get enough.
I mean, how cute are YOU?!
You’re pretty cute too.
I won’t forget this moment watching Hunter and his dad tossing the “footy” in the ocean, thinking how lucky it and cool it was the two of them could spend time in the same water my father in law grew up in.
Messy hair, don’t care. This rooftop bar looking over the city was a perfect ending to our 5 days in Adelaide (and I totally dropped the ball with getting a photo of the view here-I guess this means I was doing a good job of living in the moment?!)
And Helloooo Sydney! We were there for only 24 hours, but we managed to walk all day (11 miles to be exact!) and see what we needed to see. It was so fun to meet up with my Mother in Law for our last hurrah, and we finished the day with a fantastic dinner that I’m still dreaming about (Hunter and I literally talked about it again last night haha).
If only these photos could tell half my stories.
But I guess some things I meant to kept sacred and untold.
Hope you enjoyed!
