Two Crawling Babies!
This photo makes me so happy:)
And this one, I love how Slater’s letting Zoe have the lime light!

It’s been so long since I’ve done a real update on the Buns. Life has just been busy! Honestly, it wasn’t until the other day when I was filling out paperwork, answering questions like, “How old was your child when he/she rolled over?” When he/she got their first tooth?” “Crawled?” that I realized I haven’t written anything down!! Mad at myself for not recording it, but I guess there’s something to be said about just going with it all, living in the moments? I figure I should summarize their 10month life right this moment, because it’s at the top of my brain, my hub is watching basketball and I’m thinking about them anyway as they sleep in their cribs :)
Ten months is SO fun you guys (these pics were taken exactly at 10mo but they’re now about 10 1/2!)! This is my favorite stage! It’s like the same day they turned double digits they also turned a page. Or two. Maybe even a chapter. Its nuts. They’re nuts. Our life is nuts. Especially our mornings. We hear one Bun coo or sing, and it’s most likely Zoe. We sit for a few minutes. When we hear Slater make a noise we know we only have so much time before their coos turn into cries. And it’s time to get going. If they wake up at 5:30, we really try not to go in their room till 6-6:30am. But first we hit the kitchen to prep their bottles. Cuz you don’t dare walk into their room without ready made bottles people. Hunter and I LOVE to walk into their room in the morning, so we usually wait for one another before going in and announce that we’re about to open the door so the other hurries up. It sounds like we’re coordinating the grand entrance to Christmas morning kina. It feels like it too! Slater is usually standing up against the side of his crib with his wubba-nub paci in his mouth (its so darn cute), and Zoe is usually on all fours staring at the door. They both have THE biggest smiles! This is when I hit that double trouble mommy guilt thing. I never know which one to pick up so I usually let Hunter take first dibs so I don’t have to pick! We change them, or try to change them I should say. Slater is quite the maniac on the table. The kid will NOT sit still. Like I said in my instagram post the other day, I literally contemplate quitting the change and letting him run free and naked. It’s that challenging, that cleaning a poop trail around the house actually sounds easier than the diaper option sometimes. After our change we give them their 6oz bottle of formula. We then turn on some jams. We love the Beatles in the morning, and also Baby Einstein station on Pandora (cuz they play Ants go Marching and You are my Sunshine on repeat!). We say good bye to Papa Bun and then we play. This is when Mama Bun’s work out starts. Aka the Bun Buster which you may have heard about ;) I put them in their room to play, I run to my room to put some fresh pants on, run back to Slater who has usually made his way into the living room at this point. I run him back to his toys, sprint to my room to put a clean top on, and return to Zoe who is now across the house in a corner. Slater has gone the complete opposite direction by this point so I scoop Zoe up, grab Slates in my other hand and run them back to their spot. I am sweating. And my clothes now have drool all over. I run to change my shirt and do this whole thing over again. Lots of laps. I should really be wearing my fitbit people. And probably a sports bra. The kids eat breakie around 7:30 (we love eggs, yogurt, fruit, pancakes and oatmeal in the morning) while I dance to the jams or play peek a boo behind the door to get the smile train going. The smile train is so good!! We play some more, read books and nap around 8:30/9. This is when I really get dressed! When I take my old yoga pants to some fancy (clean!) yoga pants. I do some work, and then before you know it, they’re up again! We have a bottle at 10am then head out for an adventure. Sometimes its to the park. Sometimes we go to lunch. Sometimes we hit up the library or the beach. We eat solids again at noon, bottle at 1 and down for afternoon nap. More work time for mama, and I’d say 1-2x a week when I’ve felt productive enough, I’ll forgo any work or house chores and just indulge in a TV show. But I have to claim it break time. Me time. If it isn’t officially claimed, then the mind starts racing and it does no good. It’s all about your state of mind, gals! The Buns wake up around 3:30pm. We typically face time Dad at this point and then hit the stroller up for a nice little afternoon walk or park sesh. Some days we have mommy and me in the afternoon and all days, we have puffs. Dinner starts at 5:30 and usually consists of sweet potatoes, carrots, hummus, or something from our delicious Yumi delivery which you can read about in my recent post here! More play time and bedtime starts at 6:15. Bath, Book, Bottle, Good night!
So what are they doing? Slater is crawling. It’s so freaking cute. He scoots when he wants to get somewhere fast and the best thing ever is when he’ll see me from afar and crawl/scoot as fast as he can to my feet with the biggest grin on his face! Slates can now also pull himself up on furniture to a standing position but he isn’t taking any steps yet. I’m fine with that :) Zoe just learned to crawl. Her technique is excellent! And so graceful. She si really fast!! She can also worm, too! Like her mama! She can pretend walk when we hold her hands-its super sweet, you can tell she is proud of herself. Also, she’s incredibly vocal and sings like an angel! I wake up to her songs every morning:) I would say right now Slater is probably harder than Zoe. He’s a handful and all over the place! He can also be moody. Mostly very very happy, but sometimes he’ll get cranky and stick with it for no reason.Zoe has been more mellow. She’s a tough girl and doesn’t let the little stuff get to her. Even if it’s her bro literally crawling right over her. Their favorite toys are the Discover Drum (we call it Pat the Drum!), Violet & Spot, any walker, and the jumperoo (mommy ‘s fave haha). They also love balloons! We have a leftover balloon from Hunter’s birthday and it’s been the best toy! On our walks, we nibble on cheese while we search for puppy dogs. Slater wiggles his whole body when he gets close and Zoe just stares and giggles. If we’re not admiring the “woof woofs” then we’re probably at the swings. Or eating more puffs. And possibly cheese, on a blanket somewhere. Slater is 20 pounds, Zoe is 18 and they both just passed their occupational therapy exam (a test most preemie babies take to evaluate development etc). Aside from when I was pregnant, I’ve never followed any baby apps in fear it would stress me out with my preemie Buns so it was such a relief to learn that they’re doing well and on track!
My goal is to get the Buns’ baby books going. I’m not so mad at myself for not writing everything down along the way-I think I was a little busy – but I do want to look back on the little milestones that I can remember! Luckily I have the blog with lots of deets:) I love all your suggestions for mom/baby things on Instagram so keep the comments going! In the meantime, we are loving all these books, toys and clothes below, and think you will too!
