Ok so I still get so many comments and questions about my kids. “Oh your boys are so cute!” Thanks but ones a girl. Or “Omg sisters!” Nope, ones a boy. Then “You got busy fast” Not exactly. And “How far apart are they?” They’re twins people, but lots of chuckles…so keep the questions coming :)

The one question I do love is “how are they different?” Because yes! They are twins!! But so fraternal (as if being very fraternal vs. regular fraternal is a thing, lol). And so unique in their own ways. It is still fascinating to me to see two babes, born and raised at the same exact time, by the same exact people in the same exact place still grow to be so different!  I do not compare my twins, but I do make interesting observations and here is what’s happening at almost 19 months.

Hair

Slater: Blonde

Zoe: Brown

Eyes

Slater: Brown

Zoe: Brown

Weight:

Slater: 26 lbs

Zoe: 25 lbs

Height:

Slater: shoot, let me call my doctor

Zoe: still on hold ;)

Appetite:

Slater: eats everything. but will also eat nothing if it’s not what he wants. throws his fork. makes yogurt art on his tray, seat, clothes, floor and every other surface. he eats and is done. if it was his choice he’d do less meals, more snacks.

Zoe: pickier, but more proper eater. she knows what she likes and will move it to the side if she doesn’t like it. or if she’s in a mood, toss it down to the right (never the left) on the floor. she takes her time. she eats like a lady. she’s a more meal, less snack kinda gal.

Sleep:

Slater: could take 3 long naps a day if I let him.  He currently naps for 2-3hours (if Zoe doesn’t wake him). Loves his sleep sack. Loves his bunny. Loves his paci. Loves all things cuddly. He usually goes right down and sleeps through the night.

Zoe: could take 0 naps a day if I let her. She fought her morning nap before she knew what morning was. We went through a rough 2 to 1 nap transition wittle little to zero naps for this one, but she’s back at 1-2 hours #knockonwood. At night she babbles for a while before falling asleep and she’s the first to wake up in the morning (usually).

Behavior:

Slater: so. much. energy.

Zoe: free spirited, but tame.

At restaurants

Slater: can’t really do restaurants

Zoe: foodie in training.

On Walks

Slater: can last for a few minutes and lots (and lots)  of snacks, but not a big fan of the stroller

Zoe: chiller

Behavior At Home

Slater: mamas boy. wants to be held. All. the. time.

Zoe: mamas girl. also wants to be held. but not all. the. time.

(but they’ll switch next week, ha!)

Behavior Out

Slater: this kid darts off. he is curious! moving, walking…running!

Zoe: Zoe knows her boundaries. She is curious but checks things out with caution.

On New People

Slater: timid. shy. needs to warm up.

Zoe: reserved but gets warm quickly

On New Places

Slater: similar to how he is with new people. He is shy, stays close to mama, with lots of cuddles, and then ventures out when like a king.

Zoe: I like to use Zoe’s first trip to Maui analogy! the girl was ALL about the island. Like she owned the place. The trip is a good example of how her wild curious spirit really shines in new spots (most of the time)

On learning/trying new skills

Slater: wants to do it. NOW!

Zoe: wants to analyze, take time, and master the skill.

On Reading

Slater: has been a book worm from day one. he loves to read, and has a handful of favorite books at a time. he’ll go find one of those, then grab me to sit, and he just “plops” right into my lap. It’s my favorite thing with him right now and I’m really trying to soak it in!

Zoe: she likes books, but likes to look through them on her own a lot! if i start reading the book, she often will grab a new one to look at, lol.

On Talking

Slater: His go to words are Truck, Moon, Star, Shoe, Bunny. Talks when he feels like it!

Zoe: Her firsts are Car, Helcopper, Dog, Moon. Loves to chat!

On Bath Time

Slater: indifferent to the bath. doesn’t always want to get in it, but loves it when he’s there.

Zoe: loves the bath! loves the water. no fear.

On Favorite Things

Slater: loves his books like I said. right now Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site is top of the list. He also loves the moon. LOVES. He will chase it down the street. I die. And he will find it in every book. “Moon. Moon. MOON.”

Zoe: loves “the baybeee.” It’s my doll from when I was little! She likes to take care of it, put it to bed (which is her “Zoe” chair) and give it a bottle. Zoe also loves to look in the sky for “helcoppers” and point!

This was fun! The babes behaviors will switch like tomorrow but  I’m happy I’ll get to look back on this. Now it’s your turn. How are your twins different? Your boy and girl? Or any of your children?

xx, Carly
