Rose Avenue. It’s where I’ve been living lately. Whether I visit for breakfast, meetings or happy hour, the quaint little street is constantly changing and evolving into a bigger and better situation that I can’t get enough of.
First up, Rose Café. I can’t decide what meal is my favorite here. I love their Kale Pesto Roasted Brussels Sprouts with fried eggs for breakfast, and their Octopus Ala Plancha and Smoked Bucatini Carbonara (also topped with an egg) for dins. Their Kale Salad might be the best I’ve had in months (think jalapeno spiced apricots, pine nuts & parm)! They also have a case of market salads ready for a nice take-out lunch. Their wine-list is insane and their cocktails top of the line (I recently had a moscow mule there which is FYI, not on the menu, but just ask and you’ll thank me)! The atmosphere is perfect for groups with it’s indoor/outdoor seating, or you can even cozy up in the bar area at the generous community tables. It’s also a good place to park with a laptop for a while during the day.
Café Gratitude: I’m not vegan, but I do enjoy a little vegan meal now and again. I tend to coop up here during the week to work and lunch (hello wi-fi!). Currently ordering their Fortified bowl on repeat- a signature item that’s also not on the menu, but again just ask for it (I’m all about those secret items)! It’s a delicious concoction of veggies, quinoa and your choice of sauce (I always go for the hemp-seed pesto)! Another go-to at Café G is their Liberated thai-inspired noodle dish. Yum.
Venice Beach Wines: A happy hour must with a laid back cozy vibe that you’ll get lost in for hours. The tiny spot has an extensive list of wine and beer, which sometimes you can do tasting flights to mix it up. I usually let their delicious cheese boards or bacon wrapped-dates accompany my wine sesh ; )
Oscar’s Cerveteca: Same owner as Venice Beach Wines but different concept. Think Mexican inspired plates including spicy corn on the cob, cheese pots and a variety of tasty tacos. I also love their yummy salads and brussels- they really offer a bit of everything there and keep the sangria and margaritas flowing.
Groundworks: just a cute coffee shop to grab some caff on the go. I always gravitate towards my iced coffee with almond milk but occasionally switch it up with a hot vanilla latte.
Whole Foods: well, you know the deal here. The venice version rounds out the street as my late afternoon/early eve shopping destination. Not only is it the closest grocery store to me, the people are nice and I just feel good every time I walk in there. You know you’re getting the best produce and products for evenings in the kitchen at home, and an amazing prepared food section for those lazy nights you want to pretend you were in the kitchen (guilty).
That’s my wrap on Rose! Now you know where to find me.
